Former Manchester United defender Chris Smalling and his wife Sam Cooke are convinced they spotted a UFO whilst on holidays in Jamaica.
Smalling – the former England international central defender who currently plays for Italian side Roma – is enjoying the close-season on holidays with his family.
However, Cooke explained on social media that the pair’s holiday break took a bizarre turn when they saw what they believed to be a UFO whilst on the Caribbean island.
She wrote that the pair had been left ‘gobsmacked’ by the incident and admitted that their revelation was likely to be met with plenty of scepticism from their followers.
Sam explained the episode via her Instagram account: “‘Ok so I promise we weren’t on magic mushrooms or anything but me and @smalling saw the craziest UFO last night!
“Not like a quick few seconds sighting of something high in the sky that could have enough a plane!
“It flew down low past us and then turned and shot back high up in the sky where it stayed for an hour (maybe longer but we had to leave) it was too small to get on film when it stayed stationed in the sky although Chris could see it rotating with lights flashing all around it, (I could only see the outer lights at this point as my eyes aren’t as good).
“We could have got it on camera when it was flying by us as it was clear to see but we were both too gobsmacked to get our cameras out.
“Plus we didn’t want to look away and miss whatever it was.
“It looked massive. It didn’t look like your typical ufo sightings. It was totally silent.
“CRAZYYYYYYY. Anyone seen anything similar?? Its hard to explain as it was well camouflaged but it was like two separate 3D rectangles rotating around each other with faint lights moving around the edges.”

Before Cooke’s followers had the chance to respond to the eyebrow-raising post, she added a separate update to clarify the situation: “For the record it was 100 billion % NOT a drone.
“It was massive and very sophisticated with faint lights all around the edge.
“It was also an odd shape not like that of a drone. Crazy I know. Also wasn’t a plane or anything like that. It was silent. Even drones are loud.
“Also, I have nothing to gain from sharing this. Just that many of my followers will likely think I’m mad.”
Smalling has starred for Roma since joining the club – initially on a loan deal in 2019 before making the move permanent a year later – from United.
The central defender has been capped 31 times at international level for England but is not in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming European Championships this summer.
Smalling’s former United boss Jose Mourinho has been appointed at the Italian capital club this summer.
