Since Paul Pogba ‘returned home’ to Manchester United in the summer of 2016, the Red Devils have tried everything to help him reach the same dizzying highs that he did for Juventus.

United secured the services of the Frenchman for £94.5million, just four years after letting him leave on a free to the Italian giants.

Pogba starred in Turin, but after his United homecoming, he has failed to consistently produce similar performances: however, for France, he has always been a class above.

He produced some career-defining performances when France won the 2018 World Cup, and United fans think they’ve worked out why.

Pogba was played in an attacking role for Les Blues

“Pogba is ridiculously good for France and I mean literally unplayable what do Man United do to this guy? Kante playing really well too man, what a midfield they have,” A Chelsea fan tweeted.

A United fan agreed: “This is what Pogba can do when you give him the freedom none of this deepest midfielder s***.”

“Get Paul Pogba a proper DM and you’ll be entertained,” a third concluded.

Pogba was given license to roam forwards as France dominated Bulgaria at the Stade de France in their final warm-up game before the Euros.

Kante has got the bets out of Pogba and Griezmann

N’Golo Kante sat deep, which allowed Pogba to move with the freedom was allowed in Turin, and the 28-year-old looked like a world-beater.

Antoine Griezmann – who, like Pogba, saves his best performances for when he’s wearing a French shirt – also starred.

However, this is no recent revelation, and United fans have been left asking why Pogba is forced to play such a deep rigid role when he’s best suited to moving forwards.

It was hoped, when Fred signed from Shakhtar Donetsk – in 2018 – he would play a similar role – however, Fred is a more creative presence than a ball winner like Kante.

France ran out 3-0 winners with Griezmann opening the scoring and Olivier Giroud rounding out the performance with a brace.

Bulgaria didn’t manage a shot on target during the evening as France produced a statement performance.
