Tyson Fury has told Anthony Joshua that the only way he can beat Oleksandr Usyk is if he hires his great rival as his trainer.

The British duo have had a long-standing rivalry that dates back to a sparring session over a decade ago, but have been unable to settle it in the ring. Joshua is facing a major crossroads in his career with his rematch against Usyk set to take place on August 20 in Saudi Arabia.

The former world champion has hired renowned coach Robert Garcia to be his main trainer after dumping Robert McCracken – but Fury dismissed the American’s chances of rescuing Joshua’s career. Fury initially offered to help train his rival after watching him lose his belts for a second time last September against Usyk in London.

And speaking with the Queensberry Promotions YouTube channel, Fury laid out his offer again, telling Joshua that he would have his best chance at reclaiming the gold by coming up to Morecambe and joining him in camp.

“I’ll give you a brutally honest answer to this as always,” Fury responded when asked for his thoughts on Joshua’s new trainer Robert Garcia. “Unless Anthony Joshua gets his a** up to Morecambe and lets me train him for this fight, Robert Garcia and ten men like him will not make him beat Usyk.

“One, they don’t know him. Two, they don’t know what he’s got in his engine and three, he’s not a little Mexican who can go toe-ti-toe with someone for 15 rounds. If he gets on Usyk from round one and tries to get aggressive, he’ll be gassed out after four rounds, start hanging on in five or six and be stopped in seven.

“But if he comes to Morecambe Bay and I teach him how to be a real fighting man for 12 rounds and how to deal with these middleweight people, then he will get a win. Other than that, I see him getting beat again, two in a row, baby. Then it’s over.

“But if he wants to resurrect his career please come up to the man that’s never lost a fight in his life, been undefeated for 13 years and retired as only the second heavyweight in history to be on top of the game, two times heavyweight champion of the world and won every belt in history there is to win. Does it get any better than that?”

There had been a report that Fury and the winner of Usyk vs Joshua 2 would square off in Saudi Arabia just days before the World Cup final in Qatar this December. But he put paid to those claims with a tweet saying “This is all news to me! Biggest load of rubbish ever!”

His last fight at Wembley Stadium against Dillian Whyte drew over 94,000 fans to the national stadium, and Warren has said that Fury’s next fight will likely also take place in the UK. He has yet to announce his next plans, but insists they are imminent.
